I know what you’re thinking, not another cleanse…
What makes this cleanse so unique? Is this simply another ploy to push Shakeology? No, not really. This site is about health and fitness and finding what works best for YOU. They are a perfect way to detox/cleanse your body without adding shakes to the mix. But for those of you who are interested in detoxing, cleansing, kickstarting your weight loss, or breaking through a plateau, then keep reading below!
I’ve tried TONS of cleanses! Throughout my weight loss journey, I’ve tried pretty much anything you can think of. We all get desperate, right? And what I’ve learned throughout my experience is that cleanses are tough! Whether it’s a clean eating cleanse, sugar detox, juice cleanse, or even the dreaded master cleanse, they all pretty much suck! I’m left tired and weak, struggling to get through my day, and counting the minutes until I can go to sleep and forget that I am miserable and starving. The Shakeology 3 Day Cleanse is NOTHING like that! While the cleanse is still rather challenging, there’s food sprinkled in throughout the day so you can actually feel full during the entire 3 days [Update: Since posting this, I have tried the Shakeology 3 Day Refresh and have fallen in LOVE with the refresh. There are several slight differences but I HIGHLY recommend the REFRESH over the original CLEANSE.]
So why did I do it? While I am relatively tiny and don’t have much weight to lose, but I too have those stubborn few pounds to lose and my recent weight loss efforts have plateaued for several weeks Normally I have EXCELLENT control over my diet and exercise and can pretty much know exactly what to do to lose a pound (if necessary) but these past few weeks have been KILLER for me! I haven’t seen the scale budge AT ALL and I have been super bummed! I figured why not give this a shot. What did I have to lose, right? <– Well a pound or two would be great lol
The 3 days went by rather quickly and I didn’t feel hungry or tired at all! Yippee! Actually, I realized that this was much more of a mental cleanse for me than a body cleanse because I needed to break some bad habits such as mindless snacking and portion control. This cleanse made me realize that I was snacking WAY too much throughout the day and not because I was hungry, but because I was bored! Yikes!
Did I want to give up? Yes, many times! Day 1 at breakfast, day 1 at lunch, day 1 at dinner, day 1 after dinner… you get the point. I’m human and it’s just as difficult for me to do a cleanse as the next person, but I reminded myself that this was something I wanted to try. I wanted to understand what everyone else was talking about and I wanted to experience it for myself. While I wasn’t perfect and didn’t follow it exactly (shame on me), I still had pretty amazing results!
3 days later and I was down 3.4 pounds! What?! No way! I couldn’t believe it! I was CERTAIN that the weight would come right back in the next day or two after eating some “normal” foods, but it didn’t! Over the course of the week/weekend I did gain back 1.4 pounds BUT to know that I was down 2 POUNDS from 3 days worth of work was outstanding for me! I couldn’t be happier with my results!
Would I do it again? Maybe. The reason I say maybe is because I genuinely enjoy eating healthy every day and I don’t like the feeling of being restricted. Just knowing that I “can’t” have something sends in a mental whirlwind of emotion and usually down a path of self-sabatoge. The reason I said maybe is because the 3 day cleanse did exactly what I needed at the moment which was to push past my plateau and get me feeling better about my health and fitness. So maybe I’ll do it again, maybe I won’t… what I will do is definitely keep you updated!
